Trabajar enfermo, ¿reduce tu rendimiento?
Los problemas de salud son uno de los principales factores del presentismo laboral. El miedo a perder el empleo, a pedir la baja, a descontarse días de vacaciones o simplemente, a creer que se podría mostrar poca profesionalidad o implicación frente a un superior están provocando que este fenómeno esté cada vez más presente en España. Según datos de un estudio de Cigna, el 74% de los españoles ha ido a trabajar alguna vez estando enfermo, porcentaje muy superior al de países como Reino Unido, con un 57%, Alemania (49%) o Francia (42%).
Según el estudio ‘360º Wellbeing Survey 2018’, realizado por la aseguradora de salud Cigna, España es el país menos concienciado sobre cómo afecta a la productividad laboral individual los problemas de salud. De hecho, los españoles calculan que su rendimiento laboral solo disminuye un 10% de media, cuando acuden a su puesto de trabajo con algún tipo de padecimiento de salud.
Frente a esta percepción, los trabajadores de otros países del entorno europeo difieren. Así, en Alemania, reconocen que su productividad baja un 27% en este tipo de casos; en Francia, ven una caída del 21% de su capacidad; y Reino Unido sitúa la pérdida productiva en un 18%.
Rumores que matan a la empresa.
Las organizaciones necesitan reaccionar a tiempo ante la propagación de chismes entre sus empleados
George R. R. Martin aparcará este año la finalización de Vientos de invierno, la sexta novela de la saga Juego de tronos, para centrarse en otro proyecto literario. Este rumor, aireado por numerosos medios de comunicación, llenó de desasosiego a millones de fans de todo el mundo que veían desvanecerse sus esperanzas de que la nueva entrega del universo de los Siete Reinos llegara a las librerías en 2017 tras una larga espera de cinco años. La conmoción en la Red fue tal que el propio autor tuvo que salir al paso en su blog de lo que él calificó como “distorsiones extrañas, rumores, falsas informaciones y desinformaciones”. Y si un chisme acerca de unas novelas de ficción fantástica es capaz de provocar un pequeño cataclismo planetario, ¿qué no sucederá cuando ese rumor afecta al medio de vida de las personas?
Todos necesitamos estar informados, especialmente cuando ocurren cambios que pueden afectar a nuestra empresa o a nuestro puesto de trabajo. Y si la organización no es capaz de atender esa necesidad, las noticias brotarán deformadas o exageradas por otros canales
La perspectiva de un ajuste salarial, un cambio en los horarios o una reestructuración de departamentos generará, inevitablemente, especulaciones entre sus posibles afectados… A menos que la empresa tome la delantera. Porque los rumores sólo encuentran sitio cuando los canales oficiales callan. Según Nacho Rodríguez Velasco, director de comunicación de ING Bank España y Portugal, una buena manera de neutralizar los chismorreos es ocupar esos espacios. “Cuando la comunicación fluye de forma abierta y transparente y todo el mundo está informado de la evolución de los proyectos, cambios y movimientos, se da menos pábulo al rumor. Porque la gente sabe que enseguida podrá acudir a la fuente oficial para informarse”.
Aguantar la presión en el trabajo.
En todos los empleos existen momentos de tensión. Por lo general se deben a acumulación de tareas y unos tiempos para ejecutarlas menores de los que los trabajadores consideran necesarios. Aguantar la presión en el trabajo es algo que se puede aprender y que el trabajador debe sabe manejar para sobrevivir a su puesto de trabajo.
La inteligencia emocional en la empresa nos ayudará a darle el valor adecuado y saber encauzar estas presiones en cada momento. Para empezar lo que pasa en el trabajo, se queda en el trabajo. Hay que saber desconectar y hacer un restet a nivel mental para no trasladar estas presiones de nuestro entorno laboral a un entorno personal y familiar.
Después en la empresa tenemos que empezar por priorizar las tareas. Una hoja de ruta adecuada nos ayuda a centrar nuestros esfuerzos en aquellas tareas para las que tenemos una fecha de entrega. Es fundamental evitar que nuestro tiempo se lo lleven otras tareas menores que no son críticas, pero a las que muchas veces se les concede más urgencia de la debida.
Nunca es tarde para triunfar.
El lento desarrollo de algunas habilidades hacen que algunas personas necesiten más años para brillar
Quién le iba a decir al tenista suizo Stan Wawrinka que, después de una larga carrera en el circuito profesional, a sus 29 años menos dos meses la vida aún le reservaba las mieles de un Grand Slam. O que una vez rebasada la treintena todavía llegarían dos más. Unas hazañas que parecían solo al alcance de los extraterrestres Nadal, Djokovic, Murray o de su compatriota Federer. Pero al contrario que la de estos precoces campeones, la de Wawrinka ha sido una progresión lenta pero segura. Hasta que sus excelentes condiciones han terminado por explotar a una edad en la que para la mayoría comienza el declive.
El caso de Wawrinka, como los de otros talentos tardíos, desde Morgan Freeman a José Saramago, da la razón a los que piensan que nunca es tarde para triunfar profesionalmente. «El éxito puede llegar en cualquier momento, y hay personas que necesitan más tiempo para madurar su talento que otros», señala Pilar Jericó, presidenta de Be-Up. Luis Colmenero, coach y autor de la marca Coachingümer, habla de la existencia de un «talento contenido» que dormita en el interior de algunas personas. «Saben que transportan un petate repleto de habilidades, facultades y actitudes, y de la capacidad para desarrollarlas. Cuando perciben que se dan las circunstancias adecuadas, se produce la explosión»
Pero lo primero será averiguar qué es aquello con lo que esa persona disfruta, lo que le apasiona. Y no todos tardan lo mismo en descubrirlo. El camino largo hacia el éxito es más fiable porque «permite identificar riesgos, errores o posibles mejoras». Los emprendedores de más de 45 años son un buen ejemplo. «Saben que elaborar un buen plan de negocio es laborioso, pero también que es algo que les evitará tropezar más adelante con piedras que ya fueron un obstáculo antes», argumenta.
